Practice Description

Ron’s practice focuses on commercial, residential and mixed-use real estate and development, economic development projects; local, state and federal government relations; and distressed property scenarios. Representing national, regional and local retailers, developers and lenders, Ron addresses the comprehensive needs of commercial real estate developers, realtors/brokers and lenders. He has extensive experience in real estate transactions of all types, including pre-contract due diligence and negotiations, contracting for purchase, sale and/or lease of real property; pre-closing issues, including governmental entitlement (zoning, re-zoning, public-private partnerships, financing issues), title insurance and curative title matters (Ron is an approved agent for Mississippi Valley Title Insurance Company); all phases of post-closing development, including construction, governmental and project execution processes; all business issues relating to all phases of the process; and the full range of distressed property scenarios including foreclosure, reclamation, workouts and post-foreclosure management and disposal of assets. Ron has participated at multiple levels of developments including regional shopping centers, malls and mixed-use residential and commercial projects across Mississippi. He also serves as General Counsel to the Mississippi Association of REALTORS® and selected local Boards of REALTORS®. Ron’s governmental relations practice draws on his excellent relations with local, state and federal officials. His experience includes serving as a two-term State Senator, during which time he worked on the Budget, Appropriations, Judiciary, Education, Universities & Colleges, Insurance, Highways & Transportation, Juvenile Justice, and Elections Committees; and working in Washington, D.C. as a member of a congressional staff.
