Licensure and Certification / Professional License Discipline
In Mississippi and all other states, professionals practice their respective
trades after receiving a license or permit to do so from a state board or
agency. When
issuing such a license, the board retains jurisdiction over the professional
to take the license away or administer discipline based on certain legal
parameters.
The firm of Robinson, Biggs, Ingram, Solop & Farris,
PLLC has over thirty (30) years of collective experience relating
to issues regarding professional licensure. The firm serves as the
Complaint Counsel for the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure and
Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners, advising board staff during
investigations and handling disciplinary complaints against physicians, podiatrists,
dentists and dental hygienists. Using this experience, the firm also
defends professionals before other boards and agencies. This includes
representation of professionals during a licensure investigation; legality
of the examination process; completion of licensure applications; and defending
professions in the event a disciplinary hearing ensues. This unique
area of the law requires an attorney with experience in administrative procedures,
administrative discovery, constitutional law, administrative remedies, and
appeal rights.
Professionals represented by the firm include attorneys, architects, pharmacists, nurses,
psychologists, landscape architects, nursing home administrators, physical
therapists, just to name a few. Having prosecuted before the medical
and dental boards for over 26 years, the firm is in a unique position to
defend other professionals.
